Douglas E. Merz

Douglas Merz studied at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before going on to earn a law degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He was admitted to the Nebraska Law and the U.S. District Court in the District of Nebraska in 1975. Merz’s areas of practice include probate and estate planning, litigation, real estate, agricultural, personal injury, and worker’s compensation. 


Merz has been a practicing lawyer for more than 40 years, and during that time his dedication to his clients and to upholding the highest legal standards.

Alexandra Fleming 

Alexandra Fleming graduated from Creighton University School of Law and was admitted to the Nebraska Bar and the U.S. District Court in the District of Nebraska in 2020. Alexandra is the newest member of the Weaver & Merz team.

 

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Alexandra has called Nebraska home since attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she studied Criminology and Criminal Justice, Psychology and English. During law school, Alexandra enjoyed participating in public interest externships and received the Pro Bono Service Distinction from the Nebraska Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission for providing voluntary services to vulnerable and underserved populations. 

 

As a new transplant to the area, Alexandra has enjoyed getting to know the Falls City community. When she is not practicing law, she likes to spend time with her family (especially her puppy, Penny), traveling and working on home improvement projects. 

Samantha Scheitel

Samantha Scheitel grew up in Hastings, NE. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for her undergraduate studies and graduated with a degree in English and Political Science in 2014. She then went on to obtain her law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2017, and she is currently licensed to practice in Nebraska.


Samantha and her husband live in Falls City and have two children. They like to spend their free time with family and friends and enjoy traveling to new places.


Currently, Samantha serves as the treasurer of the Friends of the Library Board for the Falls City Library, and is an active member of the Falls City Chamber of Commerce Board. It is her pleasure to serve the community of Falls City and Richardson County and hopes to continue doing so long into the future.
